Tesla Discontinues Most Affordable Model: The Model 3 Standard Range No Longer Available
Tesla has officially removed its least expensive vehicle option, the Model 3 Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive, from its online configurator. Previously priced at $39,000, this model was the entry-level variant offered by the electric vehicle maker. The Model 3 Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive now takes the title of the cheapest Tesla, starting at $42,500. Tesla introduced an updated version of the Model 3 earlier this year, aiming to enhance overall performance and efficiency.
In conjunction with this change, Tesla has released third-quarter delivery figures, indicating 462,890 vehicles delivered between July and September. This is a 6.4% increase compared to the previous year, attributed to pricing strategies and incentives. However, the numbers fell short of analysts’ expectations, which were set at over 469,000 deliveries. This discrepancy may impact CEO Elon Musk’s goal of exceeding 1.8 million total deliveries for the entire year of 2023.
Despite these achievements, Tesla faces challenges with recalls, having dealt with multiple incidents this year. Most of the issues were resolved through over-the-air updates, but the volume of recalls, which included around 200,000 vehicles in January and rising to 1.8 million in July, could raise concerns among consumers about the reliability of Tesla vehicles.
