Samsung and NVIDIA Collaborate on New AI Chip Factory

In an exciting development within the tech industry, NVIDIA is joining forces with South Korea’s leading companies, including Samsung, Hyundai, and the SK Group, to enhance the nation’s AI infrastructure. Samsung is constructing a state-of-the-art AI chip factory that will leverage 50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell server GPUs to manufacture its own semiconductors. This initiative, termed “AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing,” aims to optimize Samsung’s processes, forecast maintenance needs, and boost the efficiency of its autonomous operations significantly.

NVIDIA is also partnering with Hyundai, which plans to utilize the same number of Blackwell GPUs to strengthen its AI models for manufacturing and autonomous driving technologies. The SK Group, encompassing major players like SK Telecom and SK Hynix, will employ 50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell chips for an industrial AI cloud, which is expected to power innovative technologies such as next-gen memory, robotics, digital twins, and intelligent AI agents.

Reports from Bloomberg indicate that NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, has been in South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit, where he was spotted with prominent figures such as Samsung’s Jay Y. Lee and Hyundai’s Chung Euisun in a local establishment.

Additionally, NVIDIA is collaborating with the South Korean government to create a sovereign AI infrastructure. The government plans to deploy 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs to its National AI Computing Center, as well as to facilities owned by key local companies, including Kakao and Naver.

This strategic partnership marks a significant step for both Samsung and NVIDIA, paving the way for enhanced capabilities in AI technology and semiconductor production.
