Disney Plus Enhances Streaming Experience with HDR10+ Support

Disney+ Begins Rolling Out HDR10+ Support

Disney+ is making significant strides in enhancing its streaming quality by introducing HDR10+ support, particularly targeting Samsung screens initially. This new image quality technology will include around 1,000 shows from Hulu, with plans to expand to additional programming under the Disney umbrella in the future.

This rollout will first be available on Samsung Crystal UHD TVs and higher models dating back to 2018, as well as select Samsung Smart Monitors. HDR10+ improves upon HDR10 technology, providing an alternative to Dolby Vision and enabling a more dynamic viewing experience through enhanced contrast, brightness, and color precision on a scene-by-scene basis, assuming users have compatible displays.

In March, Netflix announced its addition of HDR10+ support, although various platforms have been supporting this standard for a longer time. Thus, Disney+ is just the latest to embrace this advancement in streaming technology, aiming to provide its subscribers with an improved viewing experience.

Key Details:

  • Initial Content: Approximately 1,000 shows from Hulu available in HDR10+.
  • Supported Devices: Samsung Crystal UHD TVs (2018 and newer) and select Samsung Smart Monitors.
  • Technology Comparison: HDR10+ vs. Dolby Vision, offering scene-specific enhancements.

This move not only places Disney+ in line with competitors but also highlights its commitment to offering elevated viewing experiences as more streaming services begin to adopt advanced technologies like HDR10+.
