Threads Reaches 150 Million Daily Users and is Ramping Up Ads
Threads, Meta’s text-based social media app, has reportedly reached 150 million daily active users, as shared by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the company’s third-quarter earnings call. The app had earlier surpassed 400 million monthly active users back in August. Zuckerberg expressed his ambition for Threads to become a leader in its category, hinting that it could evolve into Meta’s next billion-user platform. Notably, he highlighted a 10% increase in time spent on the app, a change attributed to upgrades in its AI-driven recommendation systems.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri also mentioned that Meta is testing new personalization controls for the platform’s algorithm. This adds to the noteworthy enhancements aimed at refining the user experience.
In tandem with its growth, Meta has initiated a global rollout of advertisements within the Threads feed. CFO Susan Li noted that ads had already been introduced in over 30 countries earlier this year following a testing phase. The company is expanding its offerings by introducing diverse ad formats, including video advertisements, as part of its ongoing monetization strategy.
As Threads continues to evolve, it’s evident that Meta is not only focusing on user engagement but also on optimizing revenue through strategic advertising initiatives.
