The Morning After: Verdict on AirPods Pro 3

The Morning After: Verdict on AirPods Pro 3

Apple’s latest iteration of its popular earbuds, the AirPods Pro 3, presents a compelling case for upgrading. Introduced alongside the new iPhones and Apple Watches, these earbuds feature significant advancements such as live translation capabilities and heart-rate sensing technology, while also enhancing active noise cancellation (ANC).

Major Noise-Cancellation Upgrades

The new AirPods Pro 3 employ ultra-low-noise microphones combined with advanced computational audio to effectively reduce ambient noise. Notably, the foam-infused ear tips contribute to improved passive noise isolation, allowing these buds to cancel out double the noise compared to their predecessors, and four times more than the original AirPods Pro.

Heart-Rate Monitoring

For the first time, heart-rate sensors make their way into the AirPods Pro 3. While this technology initially appeared on the Powerbeats Pro 2, its integration into the Pro model offers an exciting feature for fitness enthusiasts. Heart-rate data can be easily accessed through Apple’s Fitness app as well as popular workout apps such as Nike Run Club and Peloton, with reviewers noting its accuracy was on par with data from the Apple Watch during testing.

User Experience

Despite a few caveats, including reduced battery life from previous models and a new design that might take some getting used to, the AirPods Pro 3 have scored 90 in our review, marking them as a popular choice among consumers.
